Interpreting Philosophy
Interpreting allows the opportunity to simultaneously experience two of my personal passions: language and people. These are the institutions that shape our culture. Everyone we encounter in our daily lives comes with their own background and experiences, and therefore their own culture. If we could all just learn to embrace the differences we find in each other, and collectively grow, imagine the possibilities.
As an interpreter, I aim to facilitate and honor each entities’ culture, perspective, and essence via my second passion, language. Language is the medium for analyzing our experiences to extract new ideas and concepts. Without it, we couldn't decipher life's lessons to develop, and we certainly couldn't connect to people around us. Interpreters have the opportunity to eradicate communication barriers, which ultimately paves access between entities that otherwise couldn't have capitalized on vital, mutually beneficial connections.
This is no easy feat, however I will do my very best to unobtrusively adapt to the myriad of interpreting dynamics by eliminating my own personal bias, actively surveying and implementing feedback, and seamlessly matching language preferences. This ensures that the message of each entity is conveyed keeping the intent and spirit of the source intact.
I will consciously consider the importance of upholding the responsibilities associated with the role of the interpreter by steadfastly engaging in professional development and adhering to the professional code of conduct. I will hold confidentiality and professionalism at the forefront of my decision making. Above all, I strive to celebrate the differences in each client I have the honor of working with, incorporating their uniqueness to provide an effective interpretation specific to who they are, encompassing their culture, objective, and spirit.
